Marianna Mott Newirth is a writer and story architect specializing in opera and theatre. Her works have been performed from Toronto to Munich and across the United States. She delights in crafting narratives that explore the essence of humans, being human with a focus on the inner life and lived experiences of those who dwell outside of standard social norms.
She builds dramatic pathways for audience and artist to travel, inviting inquiry into undiscovered truths that may someday open new ways of viewing the world and our personal part in it. Often times Marianna begins a project with Book Art, building a tactile vessel to convey the ineffable essence of an idea. This becomes her access to finding words that then become an opera libretto for a composer to work with.
With a keen eye/ear for detail and a driving passion for collaboration, Marianna works closely with a rich array of artists from composers, directors, designers and producers to conductors, choreographers and visual artists. She honors the creative process and champions individuals to be their best in service of the whole collective work. She listens keenly for opportunity and brings the right people together at the right time to create moving theatrical experiences for artist and audience alike.
2024 is a breakthrough year for Marianna. Browse this site to find a growing collection of her work and learn more about her process of story building. Then reach out and schedule an introduction call with her if you like.
